What I Wore Sunday

Before I complain about our "freezing" California weather, I'm sorry for the rest of the United States. Except for Florida, where it’s still in the 80’s. In other news, it’s cold. But I love it. And these days, it means not leaving the house unless you have tights on. If you’re close to me, you know that I’m always, always cold. In summer, I’m cold. With all of that being said, I layered up this Sunday for church.

I’m seeing these animal sweaters everywhere, and I finally bought one when I was shopping for some warmer clothes last week. I have a feeling a may get worn out this winter!

I received a suggestion a couple weeks ago to explain how and why I pair the pieces of my outfits. Each week, I’ll add a tag to every outfit post doing exactly this! {PS. If you ever have suggestions or requests, just click on my contact page and let me know!}

How I put this outfit together:

1: While the sweater has detail of its own {the bird in the center}, I knew I wanted a collared shirt under it. I looked for a shirt in my closet that had detailing on the collar, to add another element to the top half. In this case it had black trimming, on the collar and the cuffs.
2: When it came to choosing a skirt, I wanted something that had texture. I chose a pleated skirt, I liked that the color coordinated with my sweater. The black color block at the bottom added another detail and corresponded with the black trimming of the collared shirt.
3: I wore tights because it was cold, the print yet another texture. I chose these booties because I didn’t want all black from my knees down.

This is my thought process, and mind you, I tried on two other skirts before this one. Because I’m a total girl.

Happy Monday!!
